Worked example
A pharmacy posts a 9-hour Saturday pharmacist shift at £32/hr. The locum completes the shift with a 30-minute unpaid break.
- Locum gross pay: 8.5 hours × £32 = £272.00
- Pharmacy platform fee: £272.00 × 12.5% = £34.00
- LocumHire invoice to the pharmacy: £34.00 (the platform fee only), due within 7 days of completion.
The pharmacy pays the locum the full £272.00 directly. LocumHire never holds or releases the locum's pay.
Pricing FAQ
When does the platform fee apply?
The 12.5% platform fee is calculated on the completed shift value and is the only thing LocumHire invoices the pharmacy. Nothing is owed until the shift completes.
Does the locum see the fee?
No. The platform fee is between LocumHire and the pharmacy. The pharmacy pays the locum the full posted hourly rate directly — LocumHire never sits between them.
What happens with cancellations?
Cancellations before the shift start are not invoiced. Late cancellations and no-shows are handled via the in-app dispute flow on a case-by-case basis.
Are there VAT considerations?
Invoices include UK VAT where applicable based on LocumHire's VAT status and the pharmacy's billing address. Locum-side IR35/SDS responsibility sits with the engaging pharmacy.
