How it works
From posting a shift to getting paid — in plain English
Two workflows, one trusted platform. Verified locums apply with confidence. Pharmacies hire with a clear audit trail and invoice-first billing.
Pharmacy workflow
- 1
Register your pharmacy
Create a pharmacy account, add your GPhC premises registration, and confirm a billing contact.
- 2
Post a shift
Set role, date, hours, hourly rate, required EPOS, parking and any role-specific qualifications. Posts go live immediately.
- 3
Review applicants
Every applicant on your shortlist is already GPhC-verified. Pick one to confirm the booking.
- 4
Track to completion
Watch the booked shift move from booked → in-progress → completed, with timestamps captured for audit.
- 5
Pay the locum and your invoice
You pay the locum directly for the shift. After completion LocumHire sends you a separate invoice for its platform fee, due within 7 days.
Locum workflow
- 1
Create an account
Register with your email or Google. Build your locum profile and select your role preferences.
- 2
Submit verification
Upload your GPhC registration certificate, photo ID, and right-to-work evidence. Our compliance team reviews same-day in most cases.
- 3
Browse and apply
Filter live shifts by location, rate, role, EPOS, and urgency. Apply in one click once you're verified.
- 4
Complete the shift
Once selected, you'll see the shift in your dashboard. Clock in on the day to start the work-completed record.
- 5
Get paid
The pharmacy pays you the full agreed rate directly. LocumHire doesn't sit between you and your pay.
Frequently asked questions
Is LocumHire an agency?
No. We are a marketplace and platform. You contract directly with the other party, and pharmacies pay locums directly. Our role is verification, listing, and platform-fee billing.
Who is verified before I see them?
Every locum on LocumHire has had their GPhC registration, photo ID, and right-to-work evidence reviewed by our compliance team before they can apply to a shift.
What are the fees?
LocumHire charges a transparent platform fee on completed shifts, disclosed before booking. See the pricing page for the current rate.
How quickly do locums get paid?
The pharmacy pays you directly for completed shifts, on the terms you agree with them. LocumHire doesn't process your pay, so there's no platform payout to wait on.
Can I get a refund if a locum no-shows?
Yes. Pharmacies can raise a dispute, which pauses the platform-fee invoice and triggers a review by LocumHire support. Confirmed no-shows are not billed.
Do you support nursing and AHP locums?
Pharmacy is our launch focus. NMC nursing and HCPC allied health professional (AHP) workflows are on our roadmap with the same verification model.
